Congratulations to all of the 44 McGill researchers who received Canada Foundation for Innovation awards. To receive funding, researchers had to demonstrate the innovative nature of their projects, and how they'll benefit Canada.
McGill students in the Chartered Accountant program achieved an outstanding 81.3% pass rate on the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants 2002 Uniform Final Examinations. This is nearly ten percentage points better than the national average.
The Redmen hockey team put on a show for their first sell-out crowd in 13 years with a 6-0 win over rival Toronto. The 1113 fans witnessed Luc Vaillancourt make 27 saves to record his third shutout of the season. Rookie Sebastien Langlois scored two.
Two McGill-Queen's Press books by McGill faculty are finalists for scholarly books awards from the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences. Art History and Communication Studies faculty member Martha Langford's Suspended Conver-sations: The Afterlife of Memory in Photographic Albums is up for best book in the social sciences. Jane Cook's Coalescence of Styles: The Ethnic Heritage of St. John River Valley Regional Furniture, 1763-1851 is a contender for best book in the humanities.
