I am pleased to announce that two new University-recommended travel agencies have been appointed to replace American Express at McGill, effective January 1, 1996.
The two agencies, Voyages Goliger Travel and the Voyages Rider Travel Group, were selected after an evaluation of bids from a number of national and local agencies solicited by McGill's Purchasing Services.
Goliger Travel, located at 1130 Sherbrooke West (in the same block as the Royal Bank between Peel and Stanley), is owned by McGill Graduate Mr. Jack Lazare (BCom'56). It is the largest single independent agency in Montreal, but has national and international affiliations and offers a full range of business and leisure travel services.
The Rider Travel Group is wholly owned by Mr. Mark Rider, who also happens to be a McGill graduate, (BEng'72). Rider Travel is Canada's largest agency specializing in business travel (although they also provide leisure travel services), and numbers Concordia University and the federal government among its clients. Rider will be replacing American Express in the McGill Bookstore at 3420 McTavish.
The two agencies will be coordinating their marketing on campus together with University Business Operations, including offering training seminars to travellers and travel arrangers early in the new year. Times, locations and seminar content will be announced shortly.
Having two agencies, both convenient to the downtown campus, will provide an element of competition to give the best possible service to McGill travellers, while at the same time offering a choice of different styles. Their performance will be measured by a survey of travellers to be carried out before the end of the 1995-96 session. I urge you to try their services.
