April 23, 1999 Ministry of Education of Québec (MEQ) - Belgium Programs: Travel awards for researchers and students under S&T co-operation programs with Belgium, in priority disciplines/areas. The program has components for Québec - Communauté Française de Belgique; and Québec-Wallonie. Contact the Office of International Research for guidelines.

April 30, 1999 International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Ecosystem Approaches to Human Health Academic Fellowship: Three-year fellowship (from September 1999) for research and teaching in Ecosystem Approaches to Human Health Studies. Letters of intent are due April 30; full proposals are to be submitted June 30, 1999. The fellowship value is $395,000. May 1 & Oct. 1, 1999 Centre de coopération interuniversitaire Franco-Québécois CCIFQ) - Symposia: To promote collaborative links between universities in Quebec and France, by providing financial support (up to 15,000 FF) for symposia. Contact the Office of International Research for guidelines.

May 14, 1999 University Partnerships in Cooperation and Development (UPCD) - Microfunds Program: Travel support (up to $5,000) to help complete/refine a development project for future submission to CIDA's Tier 2 competition. May 14, 1999 Call for expressions of interest in the UPCD TIER 2 Program: CIDA provides up to $750,000 for development projects with foreign partners. Universities are limited to two submissions: McGill will hold an internal competition to select its two projects. May 17 & Dec. 1, 1999 International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Doctoral Research Awards: IDRC will award up to $20,000 for 3-12 months of doctoral field research, in IDRC priority areas: Food Security, Equity in Natural Resource Use, Biodiversity Conservation, Sustainable Employment, Strategies and Policies for Healthy Societies, and Communication. May 21, 1999 Canada-European Community Program for Cooperation in Higher Education and Training: Awards of $140,000 over three years for student-centred co-operation in higher education and training, between Canadian and European Union partners. May 31, 1999 MEQ Merit Fellowships for Study or Scientific Research Visits: Support for foreign professors, administrators and researchers invited to Québec for short periods of study or scientific research in priority areas. June 30, 1999 Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Fellowships: Fellowships for Canadian faculty, postdocs and graduate students, for research or training in India during the 2000-2001 academic year. Fields : humanities, social sciences and art. Faculty fellowships are for research, language training or study to acquire new expertise. Contact the Office of International Research for details.

June 30, 1999 Edward Clarence Dyason Fellowship, Australia: Fellowship to enable an academic staff member from a Universitas 21 partner institution to conduct collaborative research at the University of Melbourne for a semester or longer.
