News from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research

Office of International Research

Staff from the Office of International Research (OIR) have recently met with European Union administrators to discuss greater involvement of McGill faculty in European research consortia. OIR receives information on opportunities for collaboration from the Canadian delegation to the European Union; it will be publicizing these to appropriate faculties and individuals. While Canadian participants cannot receive funds directly from the EU, they still benefit from involvement in European consortia, through their contacts with academic and industrial researchers from Europe and the sharing of research results.

McGill attracts a substantial number of academic visitors from abroad. The Office of International Research is interested in hearing from them or their McGill hosts. It is particularly interested in the visitors' experiences and expectations, on visa or other problems, on the duration and purpose of visits, countries of origin, and on the outcomes and perceived benefits to both sides. Faculty or visitors are invited to contact Dawn Conway, Office of International Research (Tel: 398-4197 or E-mail: dconway@fgsr.lan.mcgill.ca).
