News from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research

Office of International Research (OIR)

The Office of International Research is the successor to McGill International. Its new responsibilities include coordination of McGill's international research activities, identification of new opportunities for international collaboration, and assistance to faculty members in identifying sources of funds and in negotiating support for international projects.

Under its new director, Dawn Conway, the OIR is expanding its geographic focus to include Western Europe and developed countries of Asia.

The office is also broadening its information base on sources of support for international research activity.

Special Events

Visit of science and technology advisers from the G-7. On March 15, McGill will host an information exchange with the science and technology counsellors from Canada's embassies and missions in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Japan, the European Community and Italy.

This is a unique opportunity for McGill faculty to find out about new opportunities for research collaboration with our G-7 partners, as well as about recent changes in their science policies, priorities, research strengths and funding arrangements. It also gives us a chance to inform the counsellors about the research advances coming out of this University, so that they are in a position to facilitate contacts or send program or funding information whenever possible. Contact the Office of International Research for information on the time and location of the meeting (local 4197).
