The Organization of American States (OAS) has established a new program, starting in 1996-97, offering fellowships of up to 2 years' duration to Canadians and permanent residents, for graduate study and/or postdoctoral research in any field (with the exception of medical sciences and introductory language studies).
These fellowships, which cover living allowance, tuition, medical insurance and round-trip airfare, are tenable in any of the 33 OAS member countries including Mexico, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Peru and the West Indies.
Application forms are available from the Office of Fellowships and Awards, Room 408, Dawson Hall and must be postmarked no later than January 31, 1996. For further information contact the Office of Fellowships and Awards at 398-3995 or the International Council for Canadian Studies in Ottawa at (613) 789-7828, e-mail: general@iccs-ciec.ca.
Information on funding opportunities for graduate study and postdoctoral research, formerly found only in the Fellowships and Awards calendar, is now available on the Web under infoMcGill. On infoMcGill, select the heading "Graduate Studies and Research," then "Graduate Studies," then "Fellowships." In addition, the Office of Fellowships and Awards maintains an on-site computerized database holding some 400 additional specialized funding possibilities available to graduate students.
