Changing the lock on your door

When an office key is lost or when a new occupant moves into an office, it is highly recommended that the lock on the door be changed. Security Services recommends that the new lock be a Medeco, one of the most reliable security locks available. Unlike most other keys, Medeco keys cannot be duplicated at a retail locksmith.

To have a Medeco lock installed on an office door, users must first receive authorization from the Building Director who must then file a request with Facilities Management at www.mcgill.ca/facilities/downtown/request/ or authorize the requestor to do so. The word "Medeco" must be mentioned in the request to ensure that it makes its way to Security Services.

The number of keys required must be indicated on the request. Do not forget to include copies for the Building Director, Building Services and Security Services. Forgetting these departments will prevent access for cleaners and security agents who may have duties to perform in your area during silent hours.
